(Hint: sometimes it’s easier to pin your cut out pieces onto the EVA with sewing pins so they don’t move around while tracing them.) Make sure to trace the general shape of the template on some craft foam as well as this will serve as your backing later. Once you’ve cut out the pieces, start tracing out the outer shape of the template on a sheet of EVA foam. Simply print out the template on standard paper when you are ready and lay it out on your sheet of EVA foam to see how much space you will need. You may need to resize or go with your better judgement. Note: I am a size small in US women sizes and his measurements fit me pretty well.
Fortunately, if you don’t feel like eyeballing and making your own, PepMaster from made a template, which you can download off of Mediafire. These are the EVA pieces that will sit over your craft foam to give it more depth. Your very first step to making your NCR Ranger armor will be to first make your pattern for the breastplate.
NOTE: There were some things about this breastplate that I ended up redoing. I’m sure you’ve already noticed the NCR Ranger cosplays around the net with pictures showing the progress that cosplayers have made with their breastplates, but I thought I would take it one step further and make a tutorial!īy following other cosplayers’ examples, templates, and advice I’ve been able to document my process (and make revisions when necessary.) If you are a Fallout fan, you are going to LOVE this tutorial!
